UNIVERSAL CITY, California — On Sunday night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the cast of “Twilight” picked up a few more Golden Popcorn trophies to add to their collective mantle. In addition to winning Movie of the Year, they also won Best Kiss, marking fourth time the series has won in both categories.
“A little tired, a little surprised, honored to be up there with [presenter] Jodie Foster and honored to be in the ranking with a lot of amazing films this year,” Jackson Rathbone told MTV News. “So thank you very much, world.”
Given who they were up against in the Movie of the Year category, including “The Hunger Games,” co-star Julia Jones actually wasn’t sure they could win again. “There’s a lot of competition this year, and I think for the first time I was like ‘I don’t know.’ There’s some really amazingly large franchises now,” she said. “And I guess we’re still winning.”
Rathbone added, “As we’re wrapping up, to have so much love still and you gave us a four-peat, so thank you. That’s something that not a lot of people can say.”
BooBoo Stewart went on to describe how “incredible” it felt to take the stage to accept the award. “Just to be up on that stage accepting an award, in front of everybody and feeling the love from the fans was really cool.”
Nikki Reed said what was even more incredible was having Foster hand them the prize. “She put her hand out after we walked offstage and I just ‘Oh my god, it’s a real honor.’ ”
